A South African lady reflects on her adulthood life while living in her parents’ house despite societal expectations at age 30.
A post by a user on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked conversations about societal expectations and the pressures of adulthood.
The user, identified as @RefilweSeboko, shared her thoughts on turning 30 while living with her parents and defying traditional norms.
Her post read: “Turned 30 yesterday. Still living with my parents. No kids. No man. No 9-5 job. It’s a vibe here I can’t lie 😂.”
The post quickly gained traction, with users offering a mix of support and critique. Many praised her for embracing her unique journey.
One commenter wrote, “Happiness is what matters. You’re doing you, and that’s enough!” Another added, “Life is not a race. Society’s timelines don’t have to be yours.”
However, others raised concerns about long-term planning, with some suggesting that independence should still be a goal. “It’s great to enjoy the moment, but don’t forget to work towards self-sufficiency,” one user advised.
Another user added, “It is when your parents will start rubbing it in your face that you’ll know that it’s not a vibe.”
