“Sikuwa Na Mpango” Teacher Jailed Over Defilement Narrates How He Landed In Trouble

Philip Okedi a former primary school deputy head teacher will be leaving prison in 2035 after serving 30 years for defiling a minor who was  aged 8 years at the time of the crime.

The teacher served in Trans Nzoia region and in around 2012/2013, he was approached by parents who wanted him to coach their daughter in Mathematics.

Aside from Mathematics, the disgraced teacher claims that the girl showed interest in him as a man and one day when her mother was not around she openly told the teacher how she felt. Okedi claims that he couldn’t reject her as it is men’s nature and he went ahead to sleep with the minor, without knowing that trouble that lays ahead.

“Ni aibu sana sababu hata hapa nimekutana na wanafunzi wenye nilifunza. I tell them problems don’t fall on trees but human beings. I tried to so much by appealing to get out of this problem but it was not possible.  I accepted that I made a mistake. I threw away the shame since accepting,” he said.

The teacher says that he regrets making the mistake that has cost him his job, family and made him unable to provide for his children, forcing him to rely on his second wife.

“I will never repeat such a mistake. Because I was tough in Mathematics, parents brought me this girl to teach her Mathematics in 2012-2013. Th child got used to be, she was around 13-14 but the parents claimed she was 8 years during the case,” he told Inooro TV.

“The child insisted and I saw like she wanted us to get intimate. I found myself with her and that is why am here and am regretting. As a teacher there are temptations. When you are a man and a woman or girl wants you it is not easy to reject. Like in my case she said my mother is not around and my body responded to her demands and I found myself in trouble,” he further said, cautioning other teachers not to fall into such temptations.

“Taabu imeingia kwa boma sababu ya enjoyment ya sekunde kadhaa. Sikuwa na mpango ya kulala na huyo mtoto. Mtoto akasittiza mama hakuna si huwa unasema ananipenda,” he narrated, explaining that his love for her was just to praise her and motivate her to do well in the subject

After their encounter, the girl went and told her colleagues in school and soon after the information reached her mother who sough the authorities intervention.
