Shia LaBeouf revealed his on-again, off-again partner, Mia Goth, was the one to restart their romance, leading to their reconciliation in 2021.
The actress, 28, reached out to her “Nymphomaniac” co-star, 36, when he was in rehab amid sexual abuse allegations, LaBeouf said on the “Real Ones with Jon Bernthal” podcast Wednesday.
“She saved my f–king life,” the “Even Stevens” alum said of Goth, from whom he had previously been estranged for two years.
“She was present for me at a time when I didn’t deserve to have nobody in my life, especially her,” he added. “She gave me hope when I was really running on fumes.”
Now that the duo are back together and raising their 5-month-old baby, a daughter named Isabel, LaBeouf is intentional about not “shame spiral[ing].”
He explained, “[That] doesn’t make me useful. It makes me useful to show up for my wife and be stable for my wife.”
The Daytime Emmy winner gave an example, telling Bernthal about how he acted “stable” when their little one was diagnosed with hemangioma, a benign vascular tumor on her head.
LaBeouf went on to gush about his “f–king joyful” child, saying that she is “testing” him and keeping him “accountable” like an “ultimate parole officer.”
The “Honey Boy” star said, “There’s a lot I need to work on. Having a daughter and knowing that your daughter is one day gonna search your name in a search engine and see that you are a deplorable, disgusting piece of s–t, that s–t hits.
“I have now until she’s literate to create a relationship with her where she knows me more than this idea of who I am in the public,” he continued.
As a formerly “pleasure-seeking, selfish, self-centered, dishonest, inconsiderate, fearful human being,” the former Disney Channel star plans to make “amends” for the “rest of [his] life.”
LaBeouf, who admitted to cheating on “every woman” he’s been with, made headlines in November 2021 when he reunited with a pregnant Goth at a Chuck E. Cheese. Their outing came nearly one year after FKA Twigs sued LaBeouf over their allegedly abusive relationship.
The couple’s baby girl arrived in March, and the new dad waited until last week to reveal her name.
“She is five months old and just beginning to develop the last half of her laugh; it’s AMAZING,” he wrote in an email to Variety.
