An Anambra man, Chief Mbanabalagu, has reportedly divorced his wife, Ndidiamaka Hope Okoye, through traditional means, citing allegations of infidelity and engaging in prostitution.
The incident unfolded in the Alor community, within the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A video circulating on the internet captures the emotional and tumultuous scene as Chief Mbanabalagu confronts his in-laws, revealing his decision to end his marriage to Ndidiamaka.
Visibly distraught, he accuses his wife of indulging in extramarital affairs with multiple men across various communities within the state.
In the video, Chief Mbanabalagu’s voice quivers with emotion as he makes the accusations against his wife. He claims that Ndidiamaka has been involved in what he describes as ‘akwunakwuna’ or prostitution.
He specifically points out that she has been engaging in these activities within their own marital home.
Chief Mbanabalagu goes on to make more specific accusations, alleging that Ndidiamaka had been involved with a married tipper driver who supplied materials to his block industry.
He further claims that she had even rented a separate residence where she continued her illicit affairs with different men.
Addressing the gathering at his wife’s paternal compound, Chief Mbanabalagu stated;
“I came to say that starting from today, I am no longer interested in the marriage. She is engaging in prostitution in my own house.
“This is Herbert Okoye’s compound. This is where I conducted Ndidiamaka’s traditional wedding rites. I came to traditionally divorce her. I’m not marrying again,”
