In a replay of last season’s NRLW Grand Final, the Roosters had the honour of being the first team to host a match at the new stadium in Moore Park and they celebrated in style with a rousing 34-6 triumph.
After the Dragons drew first blood in the 15th minute with a try to Monalisa Soliola, the hosts responded with Leianne Tufuga levelling the scores at 6-6.
The scores were deadlocked until the break before the Roosters came out firing in the second half to pile on five unanswered tries.
Jocelyn Kelleher scored moidway through the second stanza and when Zahara Temara crossed in the 51st minute as part of her game haul of 14 points and Sam Bremner dived over 10 minutes later, the margin was out to 18.

Tries to Otesa Pule and Kelleher’s second in the closing stages blew out the final margin to 28 in the battle between the two unbeaten teams after two rounds.
The Roosters now stand alone at the top of the ladder with a 3-0 record but could be joined on six points by Newcastle if the Knights knock over the winless Eels on Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Gold Coast and Brisbane will be chasing their first win of the season on Saturday when they clash at Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe.
