Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni will miss France’s opening match of Euro 2024 due to an injury.
Tchouameni has been sidelined since breaking his foot in late April, causing him to miss the final weeks of the domestic season, including Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph.
Despite his ongoing rehabilitation, Real Madrid allowed him to join the French squad.
France coach Didier Deschamps remains optimistic about Tchouameni’s recovery but confirmed he will not feature against Austria on June 17.
According to Relevo, Tchouameni participated in most of France’s training session on Saturday, indicating his return to match fitness is imminent.
Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe, Tchouameni’s new teammate at Real Madrid, also completed the full training session following a back issue and will captain France in the toeunament.
France, placed in Group D, will face Austria, the Netherlands, and Poland in their group stage matches.
