Police arrested 6 individuals for pirating Toyin Abraham's movie Malaika

Toyin Abraham’s film Malaika was pirated, and six persons were charged by the police for it yesterday in an Igbosere Chiefs Magistrate’s Court.

Chief Magistrate E. Ogunkanmi was presented with the defendants, Kehinde Oseni, Adekunle Segun, Adebiyi Sodiq, Oseni S. Akano, Mrs. Agboola Motunrayo, and Mrs. Adebiyi Suliat, by police attorneys from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex Alagbon-Ikoyi Lagos.

They were charged with conspiracy, theft of intellectual property, and trying to influence the outcome of justice.

The prosecution, Morufu Animashaun, told the court that they had all planned and executed the alleged criminal activity at Apapa in January.

Animashaun continued to tell him so he wouldn’t get arrested. The defendants were subject to punishment under the saw laws, according to Animashaun, who told the court that they had broken sections 411, 972, 415, and 87 of the Lagos State, 2015 Criminal Laws.

To the charges, each defendant entered a not guilty plea.

They filed a not guilty plea, and Animashaun asked the court to remand them to the Correctional Center until the resolution of the charge.

But their lawyer, Ganiyu Oyarevuegbe, asked for their bail verbally and in the most lenient terms possible.
