As unbelievable as it may seem, there are football players who have never missed a penalty since stepping up to the position of penalty taker for either club or country.
Often, we witness how taking a spot kick for a club or country can be unsettling and demanding for a football player, so it’s no surprise that designated penalty takers are assigned for each team.
This does not mean that these players are exempt from pressure during a spot kick, but rather that they have found a way to handle such situations with composure and class.
Which footballers have never missed a penalty?
While penalty takers are not immune to missing penalties, their role suggests they possess the best accuracy for either club or country. Many footballers maintain an 80 to 90% accuracy when it comes to taking spot kicks. Surprisingly, some players have never missed a penalty in their careers.
With this in mind, here is a list of footballers who have never missed a penalty:
Yaya Toure
Ivorian football icon and legend Yaya Toure is one of the three players who have never missed a penalty in their career. The former Manchester City midfielder took a total of 15 penalties for both club and country and scored every one of them.
As impressive as that stat may seem, Yaya was that reliable from the spot, which is why he played such an influential role in the heart of Man City’s midfield during their early Premier League campaigns.
Ivan Krstanović
Croatian Ivan Krstanović has also never missed a penalty in his career at both club and country levels. Ivan Krstanović took a total of 30 penalties and converted all of them. He is a well-known name in Croatian club football, having played for top sides such as Dinamo Zagreb, Slaven Belupo, and others.
According to UEFA, Ivan’s stats are accurate, though many believe he has scored and not missed more than 30 penalties during his football career.
Ledio Pano
Albanian football legend Ledio Pano holds the record for the highest number of penalties taken without a miss. During his more than 10-year career in the Albanian league, Ledio converted all 50 penalties he took, making him the player with the best conversion rate from the spot in football history.
Although not widely known due to his focus on playing in the Albanian leagues, his remarkable penalty-taking stats deserve recognition.
