- Tope Maggie, on November 9, kicked off this culinary marathon with the goal of spicing things up and breaking the Guinness Record previously held by Alan Fisher, who stole the crown from Hilda Baci.
Oyo chef, Temitope Adebayo, widely recognized as Tope Maggie, has outshone Irish chef Alan Fisher’s Guinness world record of 119 hours and 57 minutes in an unofficial triumph.
A viral video capturing the moment he turned off his gas after a reported 200-hour cooking spree set the Ogbomosho and Oyo community ablaze with excitement.
Supporters and residents alike erupted in cheers, making the atmosphere as sizzling as his culinary feat.
Tope Maggie concluded the cooking marathon in the early hours of Friday, lasting for about eight days.

Tope Maggie commenced his quest for the longest cooking marathon on Nov 9, 2023. In June, prior to the cook-a-thon’s kickoff, Tope Maggie announced that his application to break this cooking record had been approved, revealing his initial plan to cook for 140 hours and 20 minutes.
While numerous Nigerians have attempted to break various world records and faced challenges, like Joyce Ijeoma, who aimed to achieve a 72-hour body massage but unfortunately collapsed before reaching her goal, Tope Maggie remained ndeterred.
Chairman of Ogbomoso North local government, via his social media page, congratulated Ogbomosho born Chef, Tope Maggie.
He wrote:
“Huge congratulations to Chef Tope Maggie on breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest hours spent cooking.
“I had the privilege of visiting him few days ago. The flavor, passion and dedication he puts into his work are unparalleled
“In efforts being made by Tope Maggie to beat the current Guinness World Record for cooking for 200 hours nonstop showed the true Nigerian spirit of hardwork and resilience.
“It was a remarkable display of the Nigerian can-do attitude and the spirit of excellence that lies within. We are all deeply proud of him”
