Following an eventful and dramatic 2023/2024 club football campaign, the Premier League in an official announcement have confirmed the Manager of the Season nominees.
Five managers were recognized for their efforts in the different club sides during the 1st to 36th game of the season and have been nominated in this category. Key names were omitted from the list.
Who are the nominees for the Manager of the Season award?
Nominees for manager of the season included both newcomers and veterans, with recognition given to those who helped keep their club in top-flight football, not just those at the top of the table.
Here are the nominees for the premier league manager of the season:
Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)
Arsenal, led by Arteta, are currently leading the Premier League with the hope of winning their first title in 20 years.
The team has had an impressive season, scoring 88 goals while only conceding 28, giving them the best attacking and defensive records this season.
Additionally, with 26 wins under their belt, they have the most number of wins in the league so far this season.
Unai Emery (Aston Villa)
In the 2022/23 season, Emery led Aston Villa to secure a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Emery has taken the club to new heights this season, and they are now on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League for the next season.
Emery has been instrumental in many impressive victories, such as a home win against Manchester City and two triumphs over Arsenal, who are the only team to have defeated the current leaders twice.
Pep Guardiola (Man City)
Pep Guardiola of Man City has been awarded the Barclays Manager of the Season award four times and won it last year.
If Man City wins their next three matches, they will become the first team to win the Premier League title in four consecutive seasons, which would be a historic achievement.
Andoni Iraola (AFC Bournemouth)
Iraola, who is in his debut season in the Premier League, has managed to take AFC Bournemouth to a highly respectable 10th place in the current season.
This significantly improved from their 15th-place finish in the 2022/23 season.
Not only has the team’s success been impressive, but Iraola has also introduced some innovative tactics that have contributed to their good performance.
Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)
Klopp has had an unforgettable final season at Liverpool, with his team becoming title challengers despite numerous injuries.
This season, the two-time award winner has overseen some remarkable results, such as a 4-3 victory over Fulham and a late 2-1 win over Newcastle United, despite his team playing with 10 men.
Our thoughts
The Premier League Manager of the Season’s list of nominees could have been extended to a total of eight nominees.
This would free up space for other managers who have turned around their club’s poor form from the previous season.
Jurgen Klopp could have also been omitted from the list as Liverpool has not been in the best of forms this season.
