Eligibility Of Voting Members
To be eligible for membership in the voting academy, a person must have creative or technical credits on at least six commercially released tracks on a physical music release or 12 on a digital album. Individuals who do not meet these criteria may still apply to become voting members with the support of at least two current Recording Academy voting members.
According to Billboard, approximately 12,000 of the Academy’s total membership of 21,00 are eligible to vote.
To determine the winner of awards, the voters go through two voting processes. The first stage is the nomination process, in which voters are given ballots and vote in areas of expertise such as the major four categories (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist).
Following the nomination process, the voters receive the final shortlist and vote in areas of their expertise, including the big four categories.
Laycon has shown many of his fans how much work he is putting into his career and getting recognition both home and abroad, and this goes as another proof, as he gets another feather added to his cap.
