A Nigerian photographer has expressed his discontent regarding his arrest by law enforcement for allegedly capturing images.

He was reportedly informed that a bail amount of ₦100,000 was required and claimed that the officers had a point-of-sale (POS) agent ready on-site. This incident was documented through a series of posts on his social media account on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

According to his narrative, he was engaged in street photography when he was unexpectedly apprehended by the police.

He stated that he was confined in a cell and was asked to pay ₦100,000 for his release. “They want ₦100k,” he noted.

In a subsequent update, he mentioned that he ultimately paid ₦30,000 before being freed. “I paid ₦30k for my freedom. I’m out now! But this is ridiculous,”

The photographer also indicated that he encountered several others at the police station who had been similarly arrested for taking photographs.

“While I was in there, I met these guys who had been arrested for simply taking pictures with their phones. As it turns out, the station has a zero-tolerance policy on cameras,” he wrote.
