Nigerian father offers 6-year-old daughter a weekly pay job

A Nigerian father, Kachi Ogbonna, has offered his six-year-old daughter, Sophia Ogbonna, a job with a weekly pay.

In the contract, he offered the little girl the title of Family Support Assistant (FSA) in his corporation with a weekly pay of N1k.

The father, who shared a copy of the employment letter on Facebook, had promised to offer his daughter an opportunity to start earning money by taking up specific responsibilities.

“…It is one of the promises I made her when the countdown to her sixth birthday started. I promised her that I will offer her the opportunity to start earning money by taking up more specific responsibilities in the house.

“At six, I want her to begin to develop the sense of responsibility. She need to know that if she don’t do this thing it will probably not be done,” he wrote.

The employment letter, which was dated July 21, 2023, stated that Sophia would be responsible for washing all the plates used in the house daily, sweeping the house daily, arranging the children’s room, and arranging daddy’s books regularly. Her mother would be her supervisor.

Kachi’s initiative was to teach Sophia the concept of earning and to help her learn how to make financial decisions.

Sophia would be given N1k weekly after it has been confirmed that she did her job satisfactorily.

The post has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some commending Kachi’s parenting style.
