Following a live performance of her brand-new song, “Super Freaky Girl,” for her devoted #Barbz fans at OVO Fest, Nicki Minaj has now reeased the song’s recorded version.
For me, the song is SCRAP thrown at her fans!! Read to the end to know why!
The Rick James-sampling track, which debuted on Friday (August 12) after extensive teasing, is thought to be another preview of what will be on her upcoming fifth studio album. It has already gained popularity on Tik Tok merely from the preview that accompanied its announcement weeks ago.
The extremely sexually charged song “Super Freaky Girl,” originally titled “Freaky Girl,” more than lives up to its name in more ways than one, as seen by just the first verse.
“I can lick it, I can ride it while you slippin’ and slidin’ / I can do all ’em little tricks, and keep the d*ck up inside it / You can smack it, you can grip it, you can go down and kiss it / And every time he leave me ‘lone, he always tell me he miss it,” the 39-year-old raps aboard the Dr. Luke-produced beat.
Since years, Nicki has only given her devoted followers crumbs, and “Super Freaky Girl” is no exception. The single is a phony remake of what made “Anaconda” so exciting eight years ago: a sample of a song that almost everyone knows well, chopped and screwed in a fun, hypersexualized new package, complete with a few new braggadocious words.
Listening to “Super Freaky Girl” feels like eating junk food from a package splashed with block letters that read, “New Look, Same Great Taste!” This is the classic formula that Minaj mastered more than 10 years ago with her first singles. When you don’t give it too much thought, it tastes wonderful and is easily recognizable.
It would be a crazy and massive understatement to claim that the song adds nothing of value to Minaj’s career. The Rick James sample is carrying the entire song because the bars are bland and Nicki Minaj’s AI could have penned the punchlines. Even Minaj appears to be aware of how embarrassing this song is.
I Rate the song 4/10
