Former UFC champion, Francis Ngannou apologizes to his fans following his knockout defeat by Anthony Joshua on Friday night.
Joshua had managed to knock down the Cameroonian fighter in the opening round with a potent right hand, followed by another knockdown early in the second round with a combination of right and left hooks.
Despite Ngannou’s efforts to rise, he was swiftly knocked down again by a forceful right hand, prompting the referee to halt the contest.
Following the defeat, the former UFC champion took to the microblogging platform X to express regret for letting down his fans.
Ngannou affirmed his commitment to recovering from what he termed as “a bad day at the office.”
“Sorry guys I let you all down. Today was a bad day in the office but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love,” he wrote.
