NFF to discipline Osimhen for verbal attack on Finidi George

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) will reportedly carryout disciplinary action against Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

This follows the player’s verbal attack on former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.

Last weekend, Osimhen publicly criticized George, who recently resigned, for allegedly excluding him from the 2026 WCQ squad due to injury.

The 25-year-old striker expressed his frustration during an Instagram Live session.

“I’ve lost my respect for Finidi,” Osimhen stated. He recounted reaching out to George to inform him of his readiness to join the squad for the World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and Benin despite his injury.

According to Osimhen, George insisted he stay with his family and continue rehabilitation.

“I knew things like this would happen, I am not dumb. Immediately I did the MRI, the next day, the doctor called me and spoke to me about the state of my health,” Osimhen explained.

He claimed to have shared a video call with the doctor and George, where the doctor explained the player’s injury in detail.

“I’ve always given my all whether I am playing for my club or country. I’ve been disrespected enough, and I don’t care if what Finidi said about me was true or false.

“I can’t continue to keep quiet because I’m a footballer. I told him to allow me to come be with the boys, but he said I should stay with my family,” the Napoli star added.

Meanwhile, the NFF’s decision on the matter is yet to be confirmed, but sources suggest a disciplinary action is being discussed over the player’s action.
