The lady, Amina Abashe, was accused of dumping boiling water on her husband, Shehu Abdullahi, following an altercation about her frequent phone contacts with other men.
The event occurred in the Kontangora Local Government Area of Niger State.
Abdullahi, the husband, told Daily Trust from his hospital bed at Kontagora General Hospital that they married two months ago, following the death of his first wife.
He said his wife attempted to stab him to death, but he was able to retrieve the knife from her before she proceeded to get the water she was heating and poured it over him.
Abdullahi claimed that two months after the marriage contract was signed, his wife refused move to his house and that he went to her parents’ house to complain.
He said that on Tuesday evening, the day of the event, his wife contacted him and asked him to come to their residence, where she informed him that she was no longer interested in the marriage, claiming that she had someone who would pay back his dowry.
He said she was on the phone with a man who he assumed was her boyfriend at the same location.
“At that point, I became angry and attempted to seize the phone from her and she took a knife to stab me but I was able to collect the knife from her,” he added.
