After returning from injury, Alexander Isak, opened the scoring for the Magpies, only to be met with an outstanding free-kick from Raheem Sterling, leveling the score at half time.
The turning point in the game came when Newcastle rattled the net twice in just 90 seconds, courtesy of goals from Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton.
To compound Chelsea’s woes, captain Reece James received his marching orders with a red card, having taken two yellow cards during the intense clash.
