Naby Keïta has expressed his emotional response to the news of Jürgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old midfielder revealed that he was moved to tears upon learning about Klopp’s decision to leave the club.
Klopp had signed Keïta from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018 for a reported fee of €60 million.
Despite playing 129 times for Liverpool and contributing with 11 goals and seven assists, Keïta struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup before departing the club on a free transfer to join Werder Bremen in the summer.
Now, Klopp’s departure from Liverpool marks the end of an era for both him and Keïta.
Recall Klopp cited fatigue and burnout as reasons for his departure after a successful stint with Liverpool, during which he secured both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles.
Keïta shared his deep respect and affection for Klopp, stating, “He took me to Liverpool like his son, and I consider him my dad. I wish all the best for him for the rest of his life. I will try to write to him.”
