AC Milan started the new year securing a 3-0 away win against Empoli in the Serie A, on Sunday afternoon.
The Rossoneri’s dominance was set up by former Chelsea duo, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Olivier Giroud, before Chaka Traorè sealed the victory.
Milan continued their winning streak following a recent victory against Cagliari in the Coppa Italia.
England international Loftus-Cheek opened scoring just 11 minutes into the game with a well-placed finish.
Empoli tried to respond but Milan’s defense kept them out. The Rossoneri doubled their lead when Giroud converted a penalty after Loftus-Cheek’s shot was deflected by Youssef Maleh’s arm.
Despite a VAR check, Giroud found the net, extending the visitors lead.
In the second half, Stefano Pioli’s men continued to dominate. However, Empoli had a few chances, but Milan’s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, denied their efforts, maintaining a clean sheet for his team.
As the match drew to a close, Milan introduced young talents Davide Bartesaghi and Chaka Traoré, with Traoré making an immediate impact by scoring his first Serie A goal on a quick counter-attack, sealing the victory for his side.
With the win, Milan still maintain their third-place position in the Serie A standings, ending the first half of the season with 39 points.
Meanwhile, Empoli remains in the relegation zone with only 13 points.
