The 42-year-old’s current contract is due to end in the summer of 2025, and there were expectations that he would be offered a new deal at the end of last season. However, Mikel Arteta stated in an interview with ESPN that the details of his future at Arsenal will fall into place at the right time. He expressed his happiness and the value he feels at the club, emphasizing his love for representing Arsenal. Arteta believes that their relationship is strong and doesn’t foresee any issues arising.
What did Arteta say about his future at Arsenal?
“We are looking to improve in every possible department, with the new regulations, there are certain things we have to respect and be conscious of and then obviously the Euros and Copa América are slowing everything down. Hopefully, now it is going to pick up a little bit because we have things to go and we will try to provide that. I think both ways. There are things that we have to improve, that’s for sure and we are going to try to do. But the market is tricky. We have been very aggressive, we are very determined and we have a clear idea obviously of what we want to do. It will come down to finding the right agreements at the right time.”
Regarding potential new player signings, Arteta mentioned Arsenal’s plans to strengthen every department of the team, not just the attack, as they aim to challenge Manchester City for the title. He also acknowledged the challenges posed by the new regulations and the impact of international tournaments on the transfer market.
As for Arsenal’s pre-season for the 2024/25 season, they will begin with a match against Bournemouth on July 24, 2024, followed by games against Manchester United at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on July 27, and Liverpool in Philadelphia on July 31.
Arsenal fans are hoping that the upcoming 2024/25 season will be the time when their team can dethrone Manchester City from the top spot.
