Khaminiwa is aged 88 and is the oldest practicing lawyer in the country. He has been in the profession for over 50 years.
In a video shared on TikTok, Khaminiwa explained why he took up Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment case.
“I’m not on pension. The stomach still needs food,” Khaminiwa said, implying that he still needs to continue working hard and earn a living for himself.

Khaminiwa recently caused a stir in court during the hearing of Gachagua’s impeachment case. This is after Professor Githu Muigai told him that he can’t speak before a senior counsel.
“With respect please sit down, Khaminiwa is talking. I started practicing law when you were still breastfeeding,” Khaminiwa said.
Since beginning his law career in 1973, Khaminiwa has won many cases and featured in high profile cases. Some of the cases he has handled include the case against the Building Bridges Initiative where he was representing Kenya Human Rights Commission and Kituo cha Sheria.
Other notable individuals he has represented in court include Miguna Miguna (2018), Mike Sonko in the case opposing his impeachment among others.
