Manchester United are reportedly nearing an agreement to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for around €60 million.
Le Parisien reports that the 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, who joined PSG from Sporting CP last year for the same fee, is expected to make the switch to Old Trafford after a challenging season in Paris.
Ugarte initially impressed at PSG but gradually fell out of favour under manager Luis Enrique, struggling to fit into the Spaniard’s possession-based system.
The transfer, initially sanctioned before Enrique’s arrival, has not worked out as expected, leading to Ugarte’s reduced role by the season’s end.
Despite tough negotiations, United are now confident of finalizing the deal in the coming days.
The move would see PSG regain their investment, while Manchester United bolster their midfield options with the addition of the Uruguayan international.
