Manchester United set to open talks with Serie A striker, Joshua Zirkzee

Manchester United are reportedly set to open talks with Bologna striker, Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The Red Devils are in search of a striker who will lead the line for the club when the new season begins. Manchester United are yet to speak with Bologna but they have started conversations with the player’s agent as they look to convince him to agree on a deal with them.

The Netherlands youth international received a late call-up to their senior squad for the European Championship ( Euro 2024) which is currently being hosted in Germany. Zirkzee was a key part of Bologna’s success under Thiago Motta last season ( 2023/24), scoring 11 league goals and providing five assists as they achieved Champions League qualification for the first time.

He joined Bayern Munich’s academy from Eredivisie side Feyenoord as a 16-year-old, before he was loaned to Italian side Parma and Anderlecht before joining Bologna for €8.5m in 2022.

The 23-year-old release clause has been placed at €40 million by Bologna.
