Manchester United have reportedly adjusted their wage structure to attract Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo, who is also linked with Bayern Munich to sign him in the June 2024 summer transfer window.
The Red Devils are looking to capitalize on Barcelona’s financial struggles by offering Araujo double his current salary. The Uruguayan defender, who has two years left on his contract with Barcelona, is valued at around €100 million (£86 million).
Bayern Munich have also been confirmed as long-term admirers of Araujo but has yet to make a formal attempt to acquire him. Meanwhile, Manchester United is seeking to strengthen its defence and is considering offloading Raphael Varane to make room for Araujo.
Reports suggest that the Red Devils are prepared to offer a significant salary increase to entice the Uruguayan star to join their ranks.
Despite their financial difficulties, Barcelona is keen on retaining Araujo and is working on offering him a new and improved long-term contract. With Manchester United no longer interested in Everton’s defender, Araujo could be an excellent fit for the club.
Araujo has proven himself as an exceptional defender, contributing crucial goals and defensive saves for Barcelona. It remains to see if he would be a huge addition to Erik Ten Hag’s side in the 2024/2025 club football season.
