Reports suggest that Man City and Atlético Madrid have reached an agreement on a deal valued at an initial €75 million for the Argentine player, Julian Alvarez amidst questions about his future at the club.
Julián Álvarez officially signed with Premier League champions Manchester City on a five-and-a-half-year contract, with a transfer fee around £14 million. As part of the deal, Álvarez was to remain on loan at River Plate until July.
Negotiations between the two clubs have progressed smoothly over the past 24 hours according to reports and it has been revealed that Atlético Madrid will pay £64 million (€75 million) upfront, with an additional £17 million (€20 million) in potential add-ons, marking a record sale for Manchester City. This deal represents a significant profit on the £14 million City paid River Plate for Álvarez in January 2022.
Diego Simeone has long been an admirer of Álvarez, though the 24-year-old had previously attracted interest from several top clubs, including Premier League rivals Chelsea.
