Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia is close to a return after a prolonged battle with injury, spanning over 423 days.
The 24-year-old, who was Erik ten Hag’s first signing as manager, has been out of action for over a year following two knee surgeries.
Malacia last featured for United on May 28, 2023, during a 2-1 win over Fulham in the Premier League.
He has since missed 56 matches, enduring a long stay on the sidelines.
However, his last appearance for the Netherlands was in June 2023, during a Nations League clash against Croatia.
Ten Hag recently provided an update on Malacia’s progress, confirming that the left-back is nearing full fitness.
“He’s making big steps and progressing well,” said the United boss. “We expect him to join team training soon, and eventually get back into matches.”
Recall the Dutch defender has been included in United’s 25-man Europa League squad, after making just 39 appearances for the Red Devils since his signing.
