Leicester City dump Graham Potter for a former Premier League manager

Newly promoted Premier League club, Leicester City have announced another manager instead of Graham Potter for the 2024/2025 season.

Following initial reports of Graham Potter up for a possible role as manager of Leicester City, the newly promoted Premier League side has confirmed the appointment of another former coach.

Leicester City reportedly reached out to former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter as they search for a replacement for Enzo Maresca, who recently departed to join Chelsea.

Potter had been associated with taking over at Ajax towards the end of the 2023-24 season, but reports later indicated he had declined the offer from the Dutch club.

Additionally, there are rumors linking him to the England managerial position, with Gareth Southgate’s future beyond the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament still uncertain.

Leicester City shocked football fans worldwide with the latest announcement of the manager for the club ahead of what many have categorised as an eventful 2024/2025 club football season in the Premier League.

The official announcement which was confirmed today, Thursday, June 20, 2024, revealed that the Foxes have opted to appoint Nottingham Forest’s former coach Steve Cooper as manager of the club as opposed to the speculated Graham Potter.

The official statement on the club’s website read, “Leicester City Football Club can today confirm the appointment of Steve Cooper as our new First Team Manager ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Steve, 44, has agreed a three-year contract and arrives at King Power Stadium as the Club continues its preparations for our top-flight return, following promotion from the Sky Bet Championship last season. A manager of Premier League experience following a successful spell with Nottingham Forest, whom he guided to and established in the top flight between 2021 and 2023, Steve has built an excellent reputation in the game for his qualities as a coach and a leader.”
