Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers are currently waiting anxiously to hear if the team is able to somehow secure Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets after weeks of speculation and rumor.
This is nothing close to a done deal and it could end up not happening at all.
But if it does, it’ll radically change the Lakers and greatly increase their chances of returning to the postseason.
However, it’ll require a whole lot of work and not just from the Lakers.

The latest proposed trade package making the rounds online features Irving, Patrick Beverley, and Rudy Gay going to the Lakers.
Meanwhile, the Nets receive Bojan Bogdanovic, Malik Beasley, and a 2023 second-round pick in this possible trade.
Finally, the Utah Jazz get 2027 and 2029 first-round picks, Max Christie, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Russell Westbrook.
That’s a lot of moving pieces but will it actually happen?
Needy Nets
The thing that sticks out the most in that proposed deal is that the Nets don’t get an awful lot for Irving.
Bogdanovic and Beasley are fine players, and the second-round pick would help them out a lot.
But the team has made no secret of the fact that they want a lot in exchange for both Irving and Durant.
It just seems unlike they’d part with him for what’s on the table here.
Their high asking price is just one of the reasons why so many people are thinking an Irving deal won’t get done before the new season starts.
Brooklyn might just sit on their hands because they are in no rush to trade the player away for anything less than a package they consider stellar.
