Ksh3 Million Raised For Njambi Koikai Ahead Of Her Burial On Friday

In a heartfelt display of solidarity, Kenyans have come together to raise approximately Ksh3 million for the late Mary Njambi, also known as Jahmby Koikai or Fyah Mummah, ahead of her burial scheduled for Friday, June 14, 2024.

The funds are being raised to cover Njambi’s hospital bills and funeral expenses, which total about Ksh5 million.

Njambi, a beloved reggae MC and media personality, passed away at Nairobi Hospital following a prolonged battle with endometriosis.

The community has been working tirelessly to support her family during this difficult time.

Comedian Timothy Kimani, popularly known as Njugush, provided an update on the fundraising efforts during a live Instagram session.

“You guys are amazing. This is just an update on what is happening online. I want to thank you for your support. We are from the meeting and we want to tell you that we needed to raise about 5 million.

“There was an outstanding hospital bill. It is only fair that we support the mother to pay the bill and the funeral. Thank you for your support. We are more than halfway and we know we will finish this journey together,” Njugush said.

He urged Kenyans and Njambi’s friends to continue their contributions, emphasizing the collective efforts to honor her memory and assist her family.

On Tuesday, June 11, family, friends, and members of the creative community gathered at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi to mourn Njambi’s passing.

The vigil was attended by notable personalities, including Sports CS Ababu Namwamba, actress Jacky Vike (known as Awinja), Talia Oyando, and Shix Kapienga.

Since Monday, vigils have been held nightly from 5 pm to 8 pm, providing a space for family and friends to come together in remembrance and support.

On Wednesday, June 12, Njambi’s friends and fans organized a reggae concert in her honor at the Quiver Club.

Admission to the event was Ksh500, with all proceeds going towards assisting Njambi’s family with hospital bills and funeral arrangements.
