During an interview with Adesope Olajide at the Afroland Festival, Diamond shared insights into the song’s unexpected rise to global acclaim.
Reflecting on the song’s creation, the WCB Wasafi music label boss admitted that while he was confident in its quality, he did not anticipate the overwhelming love it would receive worldwide.
“If I’ll be honest, I knew this song was heavy but I never thought it would be this big. Sometimes you come out of the studio knowing a song is good, but I didn’t think it would get this big,” he commented.
He further emphasized the significance of ‘Komasava’ in his discography, describing it as one of the biggest dances he has ever produced. “As the days go by, it’s getting even bigger,” he noted.
Diamond expressed immense gratitude for the global impact of ‘Komasava’, particularly when he sees esteemed artistes like Chris Brown and Jason Derulo engaging with his music.
“Sometimes I can be asleep and I wake up and see Chris Brown singing and dancing to my song, and other great artists joining in. I never expected my song to be interesting to the music industry,” he reflected.
For Diamond Platnumz, the song’s popularity represents a significant blessing, encapsulating the desire of every artiste to create something that resonates on a global scale.
“For me, this is a great blessing and I am grateful because as an artist, you want to do something that can capture the atmosphere around the world,” he concluded.
With ‘Komasava’ making waves, Diamond Platnumz continues to solidify his status as a powerhouse in the African music scene and beyond.
