Aston Villa have confirmed the deadline day signing of Kirsty Hanson, with the winger joining on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
The Scotland international becomes Villa’s eighth new arrival of the summer, and United’s seventh loan exit of the window.
Capped 12 times at international level, Hanson has been with United since 2018, and made 17 appearances for Marc Skinner’s side during the 2021/22 season.
“Kirsty is someone I’ve known for many years,” said Villa boss Carla Ward. “She’s an exciting talent who will add quality and experience to our forward line. She’s a winner and we’re delighted to get her on board.”
United have made seven new signings this summer – including four new additions in forward areas – and Skinner confirmed his intention to send Hanson out on loan in his pre-match press conference ahead of United’s trip to Tottenham on the WSL’s opening day.
“Kirsty [Hanson] has gone out today for the whole reason that we want Kirsty to continue to progress with constant minutes,” the United boss said. “She can be a wonderful, wonderful asset, I’ve got nothing but high regards for her. But I need her to play and I want to her to get those consistent minutes.”
