Benue state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, has been freed by his abductors days after being kidnapped alongside his aide and driver, along Ado-Otukpo road.
It was reported earlier that the kidnap victims were forced out of the Hilux vehicle they were traveling in at Adankari junction of the road by their captors, before being whisked away.
Benue police command spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the Commissioner’s release, hours after his family members told journalists that the kidnappers demanded a N5 million ransom.
Anene did not give any further details about the release of the commissioner or mention the whereabouts of the two others.
She wrote;
“Benue State Police Command confirms the release of Commissioners for Housing and Urban Development.”
