On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, the popular actress took to Instagram to express her deep regret over comments she made in response to accusations from Gen Z protesters that her recent trip to the United States was funded by the government.
“I want to sincerely apologize for the insensitive comment I made on my Instagram page. After much reflection, I realize that it was a reflex response to the false allegations about my recent trip to the US being government-sponsored. I reiterate that it wasn’t. However, I do acknowledge that I should have responded in a more respectful way,” Kamau wrote in her statement.
The star emphasized her commitment to using her influential platform responsibly and championing the rights of all Kenyans. She assured her followers that she stands with them in their fight for a better future.
“I remain committed to using my platform to advocate for all our fundamental rights as a people, and will continue to voice my support for the betterment of our country,” she added.
The Finance Bill 2024 has ignited widespread protests across Kenya, with citizens vehemently opposing the proposed economic measures.
Kate Actress, known for her roles in various hit films and TV series, has been an outspoken critic of the bill and has announced her intention to join the protests planned for Thursday, June 20, 2024.
