Jurgen Klopp abandons coaching for a new role in football

Former Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has abandoned coaching for an entirely new role in the world of football.

Football fans looking forward to seeing the former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp take on a new managerial role will have to wait a little more as official reports have now confirmed that the German is set to assume an entirely different role in the football space.

It has been revealed that Klopp has assumed a new role with the sports franchise, Red Bull as the Global Head of Soccer, advising on coaching, philosophy, and transfers across all teams, starting January 2025, with an exit clause for the Germany national team job.

Jurgen Klopp is indeed making a major move after leaving Liverpool. According to Sky Sports Germany, he’s signed a long-term contract with Red Bull to become their Head of Soccer, starting January 1, 2025.

What will Jurgen Klopp do for Red Bull?

The role of the 57-year-old role has been revealed to be the one in charge of advising all Red Bull teams, on different areas in football management, like coaching, philosophies, player development and advice on new players signing and managers signing too.

It has also been revealed that Klopp’s expanded role will oversee football operations across Red Bull’s global network, including Red Bull Leipzig (Bundesliga), Red Bull Salzburg (Austrian Bundesliga), New York Red Bulls (MLS), Red Bull Bragantino (Brazilian Serie A).

Klopp resigned from his role as the manager of Liverpool in the June 2024 summer after eight-and-a-half years in charge, during which he won the Premier League and Champions League.

His decision to leave the club was a shock one, as he revealed that fatigue was a primary factor behind his departure.

It is believed that this strategic appointment is set to boost Red Bull’s football presence worldwide. Oliver Mintzlaff, the Red Bull managing director, is said to be making things happen on the acquisition of the former Borussia Dortmund boss. His expertise on the touchline is expected to provide more experience to each individual club at their respective levels.
