Irungu was on Friday, February, 9, 2024, found him guilty of murdering businesswoman Monica Kimani in Nairobi in 2018.
Media personality Jacque Maribe, his former lover, on the other hand was not found guilty of Kimani’s murder.
Maribe and Irungu were jointly accused of committing the offence on the night of September 19, 2018, at Lamuria Gardens Apartment in the Kilimani area within Nairobi.
Irungu was convicted for the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with 204 of the Penal Code which they were jointly charged.
Before heading to the court for the judgement, Irungu shared a post on his Instagram page hinting he knew what was to befall him.
He posted a message inspired by brenden_praise’s song about God’s being with someone in the most difficult of situations.
“God, when I feel lost, I remember what you have done. I know you can do it again. And if you don’t, you remain the same,” Irungu posted.
Irungu also released a gospel song on the day he was found guilty of murder.
