Following his departure from Roma, Jose Mourinho has been tipped for a move to England national team by former footballer Darren Bent.
Bent argued that the seasoned Portuguese manager could be a strong candidate for the job, if considered.
Mourinho’s exit from Roma comes after a series of disappointing results, marking a downturn in his time at the Italian club despite initial successes, including winning the Europa Conference League title in 2022.
Bent now believes that Mourinho’s track record of winning trophies, particularly in knockout tournaments, could make him a compelling option for the England manager role.
He added that his presence could help England win trophies, especially with major tournaments like the Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup coming up.
While Gareth Southgate has led England to a European Championship final and a World Cup semi-final, there is speculation about his future as his contract expires in December 2024.
This has led to discussions about potential successors, with Bent suggesting that Mourinho’s ability to deliver quick success could make him an appealing option for the national team job.
