Jon Gosselin has alleged that his ex-wife, Kate, stole $100,000 from their kids, but the reality star claims she merely “borrowed” the funds.
In legal documents obtained by The Sun, the “Kate Plus 8” star admitted to making two separate withdrawals of $50,000 from two of her kids’ trusts but said it was “to survive.”
In the 2019 court filing, Kate claimed that that assets from Hannah’s and Collin’s accounts were being used to “meet her and the children’s expenses,” but she ended up purchasing a $750,000 lakeside home in North Carolina that same year.
“It’s disgusting and it’s morally wrong,” Jon told The Sun.
“Parents are not supposed to withdraw any money from these accounts without permission and without drawing up paperwork that they will pay it back — but she has produced no paperwork and no payments have been made.
“You can’t just live off your kids’ money,” he added.
In the documents, Kate also claimed that her eight children actually owe her money because she paid for their private school tuition out of her pocket.
“So I mean I’m not looking to collect that but I borrowed $100,000 from the kids’ trust,” she claimed in the filing. “And it owes me $387,000 technically.”
Jon claims Kate still hasn’t paid back Hannah or Collin’s trusts despite a judge ruling that she should make plans to do so.
Kate’s lawyer declined to comment to The Sun when asked about the claims.
Although the former couple share eight kids, Jon previously said that he has a relationship with only Hannah and Collin.
“[Communicating with] the children that live with Kate is very difficult because I don’t have an open relationship with them,” the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” alum told ET in celebration of his sextuplets turning 18 on May 10.
“[Kate] alienated me from those kids. I think it was a poor parenting decision,” he claimed, adding, “It would’ve been much better if she would have been more open with them and explained things better.”
While Hannah and Collin have been living with their dad since August 2021, Alexis, Aaden, Joel and Leah live with Kate.
Jon – who also shares 21-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn with Kate – said he finally feels “free” after ending his years-long custody battle with his ex.
“I am free in the aspect of I have adult children now. I have my own businesses and now it’s time for me to move on,” Jon explained.
