They built it, and the players came.
The Field of Dreams Game was everything we could have asked for, as the Cincinnati Reds played host to the Chicago Cubs on the classic field in Dyersville, Iowa.
The Cubs won the game by a final of 4-2, but the story of the game was less about the outcome and more about the experience.
After the game, Joey Votto took to Twitter to thank the town of Dyersville for allowing the Reds and Cubs to come play on the actual Field of Dreams.
He also had a perfect comment, saying, “You built it, we came.”
Thank you Dyersville, Iowa. What an all-time experience. You built it, we came ❤️

Votto Thanks Dyersville
If you build it, they will come, and they came last night to enjoy a game on the classic old Field of Dreams in front of fans in Dyersville.
The Field of Dreams Game is always a sacred game.
Only once a year does it happen.
This was only the second time it had taken place, but it already has that classic feel to it.
Teams wear their throwback uniforms and give the game that legendary feel.
It’s quite literally a blast from the past.
Votto certainly had a fun time playing on the old ballfield.
Who wouldn’t?
Baseball is a legendary game, and the Field of Dreams is a staple for our grand old game.
It all started with the film, when Ray Kinsella discovered that legendary players could enter via the corn fields and create some magic.
It’s a dream come true for any player to have a chance to take part in the Field of Dreams Game.
Votto enjoyed his experience and the same can be said for everybody else who experienced the big game.
