Joe Flacco Comments On Potentially Starting Week 1

New York Jets quarterback Joe Flacco takes so much pride in starting for an NFL team.

After all, he had been the starting play-caller for the Baltimore Ravens when they won Super Bowl XLVII and he won that game’s Most Valuable Player Award.

However, it’s still uncertain if he or Zach Wilson will start in Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season.

But if the 37-year-old veteran will have his way, he would like to start the game because it will be against his former team.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini tweeted, “Joe Flacco taking it day-by-day in terms of whether he will be the Week 1 starter. Admits he’s thought ‘a tiny bit’ that it would be against the Ravens.”

Flacco was selected 18th overall by the Ravens in the 2008 NFL Draft and won the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year award.

He lasted in Baltimore until 2018.

After leaving the squad, he also suited up for the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles.

He is also currently on his second tour of duty with the Jets.

Robert Saleh Didn’t Rule Out Flacco Starting

In a recent interview during the team’s training camp, Jets head coach Robert Saleh had nothing but praise for Flacco.

Likewise, he added that the former Delaware standout is still a starting quarterback in the league.

Saleh said in this video, “He should be, in my opinion, he could start in this league. I believe that. Sometimes, this league has a tendency to pigeonhole people and put labels on people and then their opportunities kinda get limited. But Joe Flacco is a starting quarterback in this league.”

In that case, there is a chance that Flacco will try to lead the Jets to victory against his former team.
