Emo Jimmy has been unraveled for NBA media day as Jimmy Butler wears his emotions on his sleeve following Damian Lillards trade to the Bucks.
This isn’t the first time Butler has gotten creative for media day. Last season, Butler showed up with dreadlocks and the picture went viral, becoming his profile picture used during broadcasts for much of the year. “I might. You know what I might,” he said of carrying the approach onto the court. “I feel like I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state, and I like this. This is me. This is how I’m feeling as of late.”
Asked if there was a specific reasoning behind the look, he said, “You never know how I’m going to wake up. This is how I feel today. We’ll see tomorrow. Tomorrow might be in all yellow.”
Of the move toward the goth look, at least for a day, he said, “I like it when we get to our black jerseys, because I’m supposed to be in all black.”
The look stunned teammate Bam Adebayo.
“Ain’t no way that’s him,” Adebayo said.
Adebayo added with a laugh, “What is wrong with him? That’s not real. He’s just misunderstood.”
Christian Koloko won’t be taking part in training camp with the Toronto Raptors. The team announced Monday that he’s still dealing with “ongoing respiratory issues” and will not participate in the workouts that start in Vancouver on Tuesday.
He averaged 3.1 points and 2.9 rebounds as a rookie last season.
