Suleiman Ibrahim, an actor, has raised a very fascinating question on his page.
Suleiman asked in a video whether it is rude to tell an elderly person that they are proud of them.
He asked the question following a recent experience. He was somewhere when a young boy he knew many years ago approached him and said, ”Uncle, I am proud of you.”
Ibrahim added that he was basking in the compliment when an older woman who was present interjected and said the young man should never tell an older person that he is proud of them because it is ”rude. He told the elder woman that it is appropriate to say, ”I am inspired by you”.
Ibrahim said he has reflected on the incident and wondered if it is rude for a younger person to tell an older person that they are proud of them.
