Inter Miami are looking to sign two more former Barcelona stars, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez, for a reunion with Lionel Messi next season.
Lionel Messi has already sealed a move to Inter Miami after turning down a lucrative proposal from Al-Hilal, while experienced midfielder Sergio Busquets is also heading to MLS.
Meanwhile, Alba, 34, is available as a free agent after leaving Barcelona. Suarez, 36, currently plays for Brazilian side Gremio and could also reportedly join his former teammates.
Although the Herons’ fortunes have been pretty dismal this season, with the ailing team currently languishing in bottom place of the MLS Eastern Conference, it is clear that the club’s hierarchy has designs on promptly turning this around. Now, aside from the signings of Camp Nou icons Messi and Busquets, the Vice City franchise’s president has expressed his desire to make as many as three more blockbuster additions in the coming months.
The outspoken Jorge Mas has lofty aspirations for the fledgling outfit and is hoping that the former Blaugrana stars could well be joined by some familiar faces imminently. In fact, the billionaire businessman has forecasted any potential deals to be concluded before Messi makes his bow against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup on July 21.
Speaking to El Pais, Inter Miami President Jorge Mas talked about his plan to reunite Lionel Messi with his former teammates, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez.
He said;
“Two or three more players will come. We spoke with Jordi Alba — while Luis Suarez has a contract and a release clause. I don’t know if that will happen or not. All the announcements will be made before July 15.”
Despite not quite reaching the lofty heights as both Barcelona legends, Premier League journeyman Jesse Lingard could also be joining the pair in MLS. The 30-year-old is now a free agent following a year at Nottingham Forest and has recently been spotted training at Inter Miami’s facilities.
Lingard endured a difficult season under Steve Cooper which saw him only manage two goals and two assists. Previously the midfielder had been in electric form during a loan spell at West Ham United where he managed nine goals and five assists in 16 games for the Hammers.
