I failed to express my lack of interest – Deji says, apologizes to Chichi after claims of leading her on

Former Big Brother Naija “Level Up” housemate, Deji Morafa has tendered his heartfelt apology to his love interest in the show, following their riff at the ongoing reunion show.

Chichi had earlier shared details of how Deji lead her on and assured her of his love in private, but presented a different narrative to the public.

She claimed Deji exploited her childhood experiences to make her believe that she was the one at fault each time they had an argument, causing her to question her own sanity and even consider seeking therapy.

Deji hours ago made a u-turn after initially denying all the claims she laid against him and stating that he already told her he was not interested in a relationship.

He took to the microblogging platform, Twitter to issue an official statement and apologize for his actions and harsh words.

Deji said it was not his intention to lead Chichi on and it’s his fault for not clearly expressing his lack of interest in a serious relationship during the show. He added that they tried to make things work after the show but couldn’t. His words:

“In light of the recent episode of the reunion that was just aired, I realize some of my shortcomings and I will start by tendering my heartfelt apology to you, Chichi.

I acknowledge that I failed to clearly express my lack of interest in pursuing a serious relationship with you during the show and I take full responsibility for it. After the show, we made an effort to work things out, but unfortunately, we discovered that there was no chemistry between us to sustain a romantic relationship, amongst other reasons.

In the midst of the misunderstandings, I genuinely cared for you and showed that in the best possible way I could. I know some things might have come off hurtful along the way but that was never my intention.
Although some statements were said about me that are untrue. However, I understand that we cannot control how people react in certain situations.

In a nutshell, I am sorry; my intention was never to lead you on or to disrespect you in anyway.”
