- During a recent conversation with BBNaija star Tacha, the Celebrity Chef revealed that the rejections she encountered during auditions acted as the driving force behind her pursuit of the cook-a-thon feat, a challenge she ultimately conquered.
Renowned culinary expert, Hilda Effiong Bassey, famously known as Hilda Baci, stirred up a buzz across social platforms following her disclosure that she attempted auditions for the Big Brother Naija reality show on five occasions, yet failed to secure a spot.
Hilda Baci, during a recent interview, on the Nigerian radio program Cool FM’s show called “The Big Friday Show,” which was hosted by reality star, Tacha, expressed that she had intentions of participating in the BBNaija reality show with the aim of gaining fame, prior to organizing her cooking competition.
She said, “I actually tried to get on Big Brother [Naija] for a while. I think I auditioned about four or five times.
“The plan for the cook-a-thorn was still in the pipeline, so my goal was to go to Big Brother and then come out and do the cook-a-thorn.”

Baci was recently certified by Guinness World Record (GWR) as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
She achieved the feat after cooking for 93 hours and 11 minutes.
In an interview with TheCable Lifestyle, Baci said she plans to turn her cook-a-thon into a festival.
She also said she does not have any plans at the moment to attempt another world record. The chef also revealed that a documentary is in the works so people can see her “beautiful story”.
