Since taking their relationship to what she calls the ‘next level’, Akothee humorously admits that her new role as a ‘wife’ comes with responsibilities she hadn’t anticipated — ones she didn’t face when she was simply a girlfriend.
In a candid Facebook post, Akothee described a day spent packing bags for an upcoming month-long trip to Uganda with Nelly Oaks, a task that kept her away from work.
She jokingly lamented the exhaustion of wifey duties, playfully wishing she had maintained the less demanding role of a girlfriend who could just meet at the airport.
She even teased that Nelly might have to pay her for taking on the packing and hinted she might mix up his socks in jest if he doesn’t.
“I am packing for Uganda and we shall be away for a month, Nani anataka kunisaidia kupark suitcase ya mzee? Hakuna kitu unichokesha kama ku park 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈. Halafu ni for two, I am tired being a wife ningebaki tu pale kwa girlfriend tukutane tu airport 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Kill mtu na suitcase yake. Hizi ma wife duties inataka house wives, so Leo sijaenda job because I had to park, yooooooooooooo. Nelly atanilipa leo ama niweke socks different different,” Akothee wrote.
Akothee’s light-hearted complaints have sparked conversations about the traditional roles in relationships and the adjustments people often make when moving from dating to long-term commitment.
Akothee, a mother of five, has long been open about her life, and this latest post only adds to her reputation for keeping it real with her audience.
