- The singer made the disclosure in a recent interview, speaking on the advancement in his career and what influenced it.
Nigerian musician, Terry Ejeh, popularly known as Terry Apala has credited his colleague, Wizkid, for the progress he has made in his career.
Speaking in a recent interview with Pulse, Apala said Wizkid changed his career by giving him a verse on the remix of his song ‘Apala Disco.’
He said Wizkid’s appearance on the song saved him millions of naira he would have spent on promotion. Apala said:
“It wasn’t my doing. Wizkid just decided to help me, seeing that I’ve been struggling in the music industry for long. He changed my entire career with just one verse.
“It’s more like a shortcut. It’s like you’re planning to spend millions to promote your song and Wizkid now jumped on the song; it will automatically reduce the promotion budget. That’s how God works.”
Terry Apala featured Wizkid and Seyi Vibes on the remix of his song ‘Apala’ with DJ Tunez.
In June Terry Apala disclosed that he is doing his best to preserve Apala music and ensure its evolution.
He said he has always loved Apala music right from his childhood, and though he is not from the south west where the genre originated, his background in the Mushin area of Lagos inspired him to wholeheartedly embrace it.
The artiste also revealed that a good number of young music lovers informed him, that it is because of him they listen to Apala music.
According to Terry Apala, he believes music is one of the best ways to spread the Nigerian culture across the world and that is what he wishes to achieve as ‘it is important to propagate what is ours’.
