Nollywood actress Folorunsho Adeola, widely recognized as Arike Gold, has articulated the significant impact of social media on her business endeavors.
In a discussion with Saturday Beats, Adeola emphasized the advantages of these platforms, especially in expanding her reach to a global clientele.
She said, “I love social media. I want it to remain the way it is because I make money from it through my business. Most of my customers are in the Diaspora.”
Known for her distinctive fashion style, the actress disclosed that her hair constitutes the most prized possession in her wardrobe, remarking, “It is very expensive,”
When discussing her roles within Nollywood, Adeola mentioned that her appearance often changes in accordance with the requirements of the script.
In her reflections on industry standards, she addressed a common concern regarding the underpayment of actors, which can stem from personal connections.
She commented, “It was like that even before we got into the industry. When we got in, we had to do free jobs. Now, things have changed. We are in the age of social media. One can even be a celebrity on Instagram before being a celebrity on TV. Then we were doing it for our friends; now it has to come with money.”
Adeola’s initial film role was in Alapa Stainless, produced by Mr. Latin in 2008, but her notable successes came with the films Ayonitemi and Olowolayemo.
