Reports have now confirmed that Chelsea and Napoli have already reached an agreement for Romelu Lukaku on a permanent transfer but speculations as to how much the Blues would be selling for have surfaced on social media.
According to popular sports journalist Fabrizio Romano Chelsea and Napoli have already reached a 45 million euros agreement for Romelu Lukaku which would see the Belgian move on a permanent fee of 30 million euros and the extra 15 million euros would come in as add-ons.
Napoli had previously seen lower bids turned down, but discussions between the two clubs progressed positively, with a compromise reached. The Serie A side according to reports met close to Chelsea’s asking price, and negotiations have shifted towards arranging the payment in installments rather than a lump sum.
Romelu Lukaku, meanwhile, has been training separately at Cobham with other players deemed surplus to requirements as his future is being sorted out. The 31-year-old striker managed just 15 goals in 44 appearances for Chelsea during the 2021-22 season, but he has spent the last two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and Roma. Lukaku is uninterested in returning to play for Chelsea, and the club is eager to remove his contract from their payroll permanently.
