How depression pushed me into skit-making in 2019 – Mr Macaroni narrates ordeal

Popular Nigerian actor, skit-maker and activist, Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, known by his stage name Mr Macaroni, has narrated his struggle with depression, a couple of years back and how it helped his career.

Mr Macaroni took to social media to reveal that in 2017/2018, he was depressed and it was at that period he got expelled from his 4th university.

It’s no news that the actor attended 4 universities within the space of 10 years, namely; Leadcity, HNAUB (Cotonou), ABUAD and Redeemers.

Mr Macaroni went on to reveal that in 2018 to 2019, he tried to re-enter Nollywood but got scammed. He entered another bout of depression and settled for posting content online in 2019 and got famous the same year. In his words:

“Lol I was dealing with depression late 2017 /2018 –

That was the period I was expeIled from Uni. And it was the 4th University at the time.

Abeg Wetin consine me with watching film then? My life sef na film wey people dey watch.

From 2018-2019 was another round of depression. I continued hustling for roles again in nollywood. I have been acting on and off since like 2011…

From one audition to another. Dem scam me tire. I dey pay for form ontop say I wan act….

I started creating contents and posting online late 2019 when depression wan finish me.

God picked my call same year.”

hitztv recalls skit-maker, Kemi Ikuseedun, also known as Mummy wa, the fictional wife of social media character, Mr Macaroni, has said that she might stop playing the role of ‘mummy wa’ with her onscreen husband.

Revealing the reason behind her statement, she said she is already looking beyond life as ‘mummy wa’, because she has played the role for 4 years. Ikudeedun told Saturday Beats:

“This is the fourth year (of playing the role), and I always feel like one day, I might not be ‘mummy wa’ again. So, I am always racking my brain on other things to do”

Speaking on her love life and if she could double date, Mummy Wa who was rumored to be dating colleague, Isbae U before their relationship went sour due to alleged physical abuse said:

“If it’s a friendship thing, it is possible. But, if it is romantic, I don’t think it is possible. One will definitely love one more than the other. I cannot love two people at the same time. If I love one person romantically, my mind will always be with that person. I will always think about that person. It will be very hard for me to think of someone else.”
